Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- Despite Thursday’s warmer temperature, it is inevitable – winter is coming.
Health officials said that means the return of winter allergies.
Health officials said dust mites, pollen and dander are the main causes of winter allergies.
Jarel Paige, a respiratory therapist at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital, said symptoms of winter allergies include sneezing, watery eyes, and nose redness.
He said part of the problem is the dust mites and pollen are trapped inside during the winter months.
“The doors are closed, the windows are closed, you’re not really able to ventilate the home and let the home go through its natural process of decontaminating itself,” Paige said.
Paige said vacuuming and cleaning more will help keep the dust mites and dander away.
He said over-the-counter medicine should help too.
