BARRON, Wis. (WISN) — Accused killer and kidnapper Jake Patterson reportedly sent a letter from jail that had hearts around Jayme Closs’ name and in which he laughed about “the worst thing a human can do.”
Word of the letter comes from Radar Online; it claims Patterson sent the letter as a reply to someone who’d written him.
“It’s weird,” the online tabloid cited Patterson as writing. “I went from never committing a crime or really doing anything bad to doing the worst thing a human can do. Just one big **** up ha ha.”
Patterson also allegedly claimed that he and the Wisconsin teen he’s accused of abducting “cooked a bunch of stuff” together.
Closs, 13, disappeared after her parents were found slaim. She escaped to safety on Jan. 10 after an exhaustive 88 day search. Patterson was arrested shortly afterward and charged with homicide and abduction. In the criminal complaint, Patterson allegedly told investigators that he’d never met Closs but decided that she “was the girl he was going to take” after seeing her get off a school bus.
A GoFundMe page remains active to collect contributions to help support Closs and her recovery.
