La Crosse man gets federal prison time for dealing crack cocaine

MADISON, Wis. (WXOW) – A La Crosse man is sentenced Thursday to federal prison after his conviction on a crack cocaine charge.

In federal court in Madison, Earl Hill, 40, was sentenced to 42 months for possessing crack cocaine with the intent to distribute.

A statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said that last October, a concerned neighbor called police after seeing an increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic at Hill’s residence.

Eventually the investigation by La Crosse Police concluded with a search that turned up 22 grams of crack cocaine and materials consistent with drug distribution.

The statement said that at the time of his arrest in La Crosse, Hill was out of an Illinois prison less than three months. He was also on supervision in Wisconsin for another charge involving the delivery of cocaine.
