La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – That Monday mood can have a big impact on your mental health, but new research suggests it can also be as bad for your physical well-being as smoking or obesity. That’s why Gundersen Health System’s Dr. Afton Koball said its even more important to take mental issues seriously.
Dr. Koball said the study, published in Health Psychology, highlights the importance of talking with not only a psychologist if you’re feeling depressed but also your primary care doctor. Suggesting it’s more common than many may think, Koball emphasized the importance of being honest with how you’re feeling.
The study looked at more than 15,000 seniors over four years. Despite the results for physical health, cancer rates do not correlate with anxiety and depression.
