Thursday is National Save The Eagles Day.
It’s observed every year on January 10th.
The day highlights efforts to save America’s national symbol, the bald eagle. Those efforts have achieved results.
The bald eagle was removed from the Endangered Species List in 2007.
However, there are upwards of 70 species of eagles worldwide. Some remain endangered.
Their numbers are threatened by various factors including poaching and pesticides.
The one place in the world were eagles do not live – Hawaii.
