La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – A group of more than a hundred people from all different walks of life unite to try to curb the opioid crisis in the Coulee Region. It’s called the Alliance to HEAL. HEAL stands for Halting the Effects of Addiction Locally.
Alliance member Al Bliss, a health educator with La Crosse County, said the group is split into nine different groups focused on specific tasks and goals. Those groups come together monthly to update the Alliance at large about their successes and struggles. Bliss said it’s not a perfect solution, but it’s a start and will continue to evolve as needed.
You can help the Alliance further its mission by participating in a drug take back day on April 27 at the La Crosse County Health Department. Residents around the area are asked to bring in their unused or expired medication for proper disposal. They’re also providing incentives for those who take part in the effort.
