La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – Summer reading not going as planned? You can take in a book from cover-to-cover and join a new book club simply by showing up to The Pump House on Friday evening. The new “PS Let’s Talk” series presents its first staged reading of the 1992 Alan Lightman novel, Einstein’s Dreams.
Each chapter focuses on a different concept of time as perceived in the mind of the genius while he was working as a patent clerk in Switzerland. Though abstract, each features moments or ideas that many of us can relate to in our everyday lives. These “dreams” are broken up by occasional lucid interludes featuring Albert Einstein in conversation with his friend, Michele Besso.
The staged reading of Einstein’s Dreams is free to attend Friday night starting at 7 pm. A moderated discussion will follow. The PS Let’s Talk series is a new collaboration among The Pump House, The La Crosse Public Library and UWL’s Murphy Library. Organizers say they plan to feature topics with universal themes.
