La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – The “fest” time of year continues with some changes to a 17-year La Crosse tradition. The Storytelling Festival begins on Friday, and this year it’s at The Pump House.

Terry Visger said the change takes the weather out of play. Previous iterations saw the festival at Myrick Park under a tent, which could get hot and humid in the middle of summer. Not to mention, attendees would have to battle the bugs.

Instead, a cast of local and nationally-known storytellers will spin their yarns inside the air-conditioned Pump House Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. Scary stories highlight the schedule Friday evening. Saturday begins with a children’s focus but becomes all ages throughout the day leading to an adult “cabaret” that extends until 10 pm Saturday.

You can get a $4 discount to the festival by showing your library card. More information is available on LaCrosseStoryFest.com.
