La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – Concerned citizens want you to take steps with them to end hunger in the area. The Coulee Region Hunger 5K Walk/Run takes place on Sunday, October 13.
The goal of the event seeks to raise money for local food pantries. WAFER food pantry and the Hunger Task Force will receive a majority of the support, but participants may designate 30% of their funds raised to another non-profit food program of their choice.
Organizers urge walkers and runners to secure donations before the event. They request all donations be turned in the day of the walk and ask for a minimum of $20 per participant.
The 5K itself steps off at Myrick Park on Sunday, October 13 from 1-3. It is not a timed event, but runners will be allowed to start first.
