WAUSAU (WAOW) – Recovering addicts, their families and community members joined together Tuesday for a celebration of sobriety in Wausau at a Faces of Recovery luncheon.
Alicia Chila was one of three people who shared their recovery stories.
“Meth addiction is a very hard addiction to overcome and I know that personally and now being on the other side, the side I never thought I would be on, I want to be a voice of hope,” she said.
Chila spent time in prison and urges others to reach out to community treatment programs to get clean.
“There are people who care and you don’t have to be in the situation you are in and there is a better life out there and you’re worth it,” said Chila, adding that community members play a crucial role in the recovery process.
This is the sixth year the Marathon County Alcohol and Other Drug Partnership has hosted the Faces of Recovery luncheon.
