La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – After only a matter of weeks to prepare, Fight the Flood 2018 is taking over the Southside Oktoberfest Grounds with a day full of music for a good cause on Thursday.
“It’s been about ten days in the effort to get it together, so it’s incredible the way its come together,” Pat Stephens, Organizing Committee Member for Fight the Flood, describes.
Starting at 11 in the morning community members came with donations in hand, raising funds for those affected by recent flooding.
The free concert aims to make a difference with what organizer call a party with a purpose raising over $40,000 before noon.
Around 6 pm, that figure had grown to over $117,000 with five hours still to go.
“Literally everybody that we called and asked for help responded in the affirmative. ‘What can I do, how can I help, what do you need?’ sort of thing on there. Its just been wonderful to get that done,” Stephens elaborates.
Fight the Flood wraps up at 11 Thursday night, with Heatbox and Reed Grimm taking the stage as the final act.
If you aren’t able to make the concert and would still like to donate, you can send a check to the Rotary Works Foundation, PO Box 1571, La Crosse, Wisconsin 54602-1571.
