Sparta, Wis. (WXOW) – An event in Sparta sought to connect area employers with veterans.

The Veteran and Family Job Fair was held all day at the Sparta American Legion Thursday. Employers like Mathy Construction, LHI and Monroe County gave vets a closer look at what they have to offer.

Despite low unemployment rates, staff said many may be looking for a change.

“There may be something somebody wants that’s different from just sitting in their job, that’s a clerical job or they want to get out,” Monroe County Veteran Service Officer Charles Weaver said. “So this may be an opportunity for them to actually change it up a little bit.”

The event ran from 10 am to 6 pm. For more information on veteran’s services, you can contact the Monroe County Veteran Services at (608) 269-8726.
