La Crosse (WXOW) – One of La Crosse’s most trafficked boat landings is closing for the winter on Friday to receive some much needed renovation.
Veterans Freedom Park’s boat landing is having its wooden pier system swapped out for a new floating one.
The upgrade comes as part of an ongoing project to improve all of the areas landings in an effort to keep La Crosse a destination for boaters.
Gary Thurk, a consultant hired by the city to inspect all the landings, says the upgrades will make maintenance quicker and easier, in addition to making the landing safer for those who use it.
The project comes with a $24,000 price tag, funded by mandated launch fees.
The Veterans Freedom Park’s boat landing will be closed until spring of 2019, but if you’re still looking to launch, all other landings plan to remain operational.
