FORT MCCOY, Wis. (WXOW) – As President George H.W. Bush was laid to rest today, soldiers at Fort McCoy mark the occasion with a 21-gun salute.
Members of the 426th Regional Training Institute (Wisconsin Military Academy) presented the artillery salute on the Parade Field at the fort.
In accordance with Army regulations, the guns were fired in one minute intervals beginning at noon Thursday.
The former president was buried Thursday on the grounds of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.
According to the fort’s public affairs office, U.S. Army installations around the world fired salutes honoring the 41st President of the United States.
