La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) – More than 200 people from the La Crosse area – high school age through adults – departed for an annual pro-life demonstration in Washington DC.

They’re headed to the 2019 March For Life. On Wednesday, they loaded up a coach bus for the four day trip at the Catholic Diocese of La Crosse. Before joining the demonstration in Washington, they will make a stop at the Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania.

More than 160 making the trip are in high school.

“It’s about understanding that God gave us life and that it’s connecting with him through that,” Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Chris Rogers said. “Hopefully that witness and that understanding of life comes out to all the people they run into and even after they get home.”

La Crosse students were also joined by people from Minnesota, North Dakota and Milwaukee. The Diocese said you can follow their trip with the hashtag #DIOLC4LIFE.

The March for Life is held on the date the Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973.
