Man arrested after accidentally shooting wife in ankle

Ettrick, Wis. (WXOW) – The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s office says a man was “messing around” with a handgun when he accidentally shot his wife in the ankle.

According to the police report, the dispatch center received a 911 call early Sunday morning from a male indicating his wife needed an ambulance for an injury. Later in the call, 27-year-old Adam Hoff of Ettrick revealed his wife had a gunshot wound to her ankle.

During a preliminary investigation, Hoff said he was “messing around” with a handgun when he accidentally fired the gun hitting his wife.

The female was taken to a La Crosse hospital while Hoff was arrested for armed with a firearm while under the influence of an intoxicant and felony bail jumping.
