Suspect in La Crosse armed robbery appears in court

La Crosse, WI – WXOW – One of two suspects in a recent armed robbery on La Crosse’s northside made his preliminary court appearance.

Justin Ellis, 22, stood before Judge Scott Horne, facing charges of armed robbery, first degree recklessly endangering safety, in addition to felony and misdemeanor bail jumping,

He pleaded not guilty.

According to police reports, Ellis and his brother approached a man on the afternoon of January 30 in the area of Liberty and Gould.  They showed a gun, demanded money and fired one shot into the victim’s vehicle before fleeing on foot.

The other suspect, Timothy Ellis, had his preliminary court date moved to February 20.  A criminal complaint charges him with armed robbery, first degree recklessly endangering safety and fraudulent use of a credit card.

The next court activity slated for Justin Ellis is a status conference on March 28.

Justin Ellis remains in the La Crosse County jail with a $10,000 cash bond, Timothy Ellis with a $5,000 bond.
