LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) A fire damages a house in La Crosse Friday morning.
At approximately 7:15 a.m. crews were at the home in the 1900 block of 31st Street South.
Assistant Chief of Fire Pprevention Craig Snyder says crews were able to quickly stop the spread of the fire. “When crews got on scene, we had heavy smoke coming from the property. Once crews got inside they found smokey conditions on the first floor, after an extensive search of the property, we were notified that the property owner was not at home at the time. Crews continued to search and did eventually find the seed of the fire in the basement. After a short period of time crews were able to contain the fire and extinguish it,” said Snyder.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
