LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — The cause of a house fire on the corner of Fourth St South and Jackson Street is yet to be revealed.

According to the City of Lacrosse Fire Department, there were no injuries. Three cats, one dog and a guinea pig were all rescued safely. Firefighters scraped off siding to make sure the fire had not extended.

“We made a fairly aggressive attack. We’ve got most of the city working here right now with additional overtime personnel coming in to staff extra engines,” Assistant La Crosse Fire Department Chief Jeff Murphy said while at the scene.

Murphy also said that the Red Cross would help any displaced tenants find temporary housing if needed.
