LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – They’ll be here with increasing frequency as the nice spring and summer weather moves in: Work zones.

This week marks Work Zone Safety Week.

Authorities remind drivers to use caution when moving through a work zone. You can expect delays at times, so having patience is recommended.

If that isn’t enough-Traffic fines double in work zones.

Trooper Kris Anderson of the Wisconsin State Patrol says the work areas change from day to day. It is very important for drivers to recognize any hazards or lane restrictions, and react to them accordingly.

Road work doesn’t necessarily end with the setting sun. More frequently, construction continues around the clock, so driver should be aware of those changes, too.
