LA CROSEE, Wis. (WXOW) – Libraries across the country have been celebrating National Library Week.

On Saturday, the La Crosse Public Library took part in the celebration by taking community members on free trolley rides to all three of La Crosse’s public libraries.

Each location offered different activities to take part in including live music, arts and crafts and a chance to win $75 in gift certificates to Downtown Mainstreet.

The event is designed to show the community everything La Crosse’s public libraries have to offer.

“The single biggest thing we hope to do when we celebrate National Library Week is to call attention to what the library brings to the community,” La Crosse Public Library Director Kelly Krieg-Sigman says.

“We have an awful lot of people in this town who have never been to all three locations. So the idea is to highlight those, highlight the services, indicated what we’re bringing to the community and quality of life.”
