At 5 p.m., the bells of St. Joseph The Workman Cathedral in downtown La Crosse rang after Bishop William Callahan asked that all churches in the diocese do so as a way to show support to those impacted by the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The Diocese of La Crosse covers a large potion of western Wisconsin.

The Archbishop of Paris asked that Catholics to ring church bells as a call to prayer for the the efforts to save the historic cathedral.

La Crosse (WQOW) – If you hear church bells ringing Monday night you should stop what you are doing and say a prayer for those impacted by the Notre Dame fire in Paris.

That’s the request from Diocese of La Crosse Bishop William Callahan. The Diocese covers all the Catholic churches in Eau Claire and as far north as Bloomer.
