LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The bells of the churches of the Diocese of La Crosse began tolling at 5:00 o’clock Monday evening to express solidarity with the people of France.

The Director of Sacred Worship at the Diocese, Christopher Carstens, visited Notre Dame this past summer.

“It was sadness and surprise and shock that something that has been around for so long is apparently not going to be there anymore, at least not in the same way. It was a very personal sort of loss seeing it in flames having just been able to see it so recently,” said Carstens.
