PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (WXOW) – The resignation of the principal at Bluff View Intermediate School in Prairie du Chien is the subject of a special meeting Wednesday evening.
On the agenda of the Prairie du Chien School Board meeting is an entry regarding the resignation of Aaron Amundson. The discussion takes place after the board goes into closed session to discuss personnel matters.
The meeting comes as the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), according to a case file, is trying to revoke Amundson’s teaching license. You can read the probable cause information below.
Last August, a Crawford County jury found Amundson not guilty of child abuse. He was accused after an incident involving a 14-year-old student. Amundson used a harsh chemical cleaner to remove a profanity the boy had on his hand. The chemical burned the student’s hand to the point his parents had to take him to a local hospital’s emergency room for treatment.
The DPI investigation cites several other incidents surrounding the license revocation. In one case, they said Amundson used unprofessional language. In another, he is accused of threatening students with violence for not complying with his orders.
Later, on his license application, he denied ever being disciplined. This led the DPI to conclude he submitted a false application.
WXOW will update this story as it continues to develop. We will have reaction following the meeting tonight on the 10 p.m. Report.
