WESTBY, Wis. (WXOW) — The Vernon County Law Enforcement Association is hosting the 50th annual Hunter Safety Rifle Match on May 4 at the Westby Rod and Gun Club Range.
Anyone between the age of 10 and 15 and has completed Hunter Safety through Vernon County or live in Vernon County can register. It costs $1 to participate. Organizers are encouraging past participants to attend and speak at the shoot.
“They learn safety. They learn teamwork and they learn obviously to follow instructions, but they learn it’s something that can be done safely,” Vernon County Sheriff John Spears said. “Everybody knows gun safety is very very important.”
Registration begins at 8 A.M. and the competition runs from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M.
