Onalaska, WI (WXOW)  Police officers and firefighters are often called upon to deal with issues some may not have considered when they joined those departments.

Onalaska Fire Department

For example, many fire departments are often responsible for needle pick up in the cities and towns they serve.

The Onalaska Fire Department provides that service along with police.  That added duty helps keep people safe and reflects the times.

Lt. Corey Yonkovich, EMT, Onalaska Fire Department

Lt. Corey Yonkovich who serves as an EMT with the Department says if you find a needle, don’t pick it up.  Call a non-emergency La Crosse County Dispatch number.  They’ll often call someone to pick up and dispose of that needle safely.
