SPARTA, Wis. (WXOW) – Family, friends and various members of local law enforcement were on hand to watch the latest class of recruits become graduates for Western Technical College’s 720 Academy.
The law enforcement training academy provides aspiring law officers with the training required to become certified in Wisconsin.
Students complete and demonstrate competency in a number of crucial areas based on the criteria set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Guest speakers to the graduating class included WTC President Roger Stanford and others, all speaking to the challenges and rewards that accompany a profession with public service.
“I love how we work with the community,” graduate McKena Huffman said. “I took it upon myself to get the training and the schooling that I needed. Not a single person in my family is in law enforcement so I’m the first and I’m very excited to pursue law enforcement.”
This latest class of recruits began with 20 students and all 20 successfully completed the program. The next Law Enforcement 720 Academy is set to begin in June.
