Seminar for those with student loans

ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) – Student loan debt is a challenge for many across the country and in our area.

It is graduation season and many people are preparing to start paying off their student loans. Some people may be getting ready for life after graduation, while some are working on pay their loans off 20 years out of college. On Tuesday afternoon, Altra Federal Credit Union in Onalaska hosted a seminar to give tips on how to quickly and effectively pay off student loans.

The free event was open to anyone with student loans. The guest speaker, Daniel Stelmach, discussed strategies to paying off loans. He showed attendees which loans should be paid off first and why. He also gave away a $100 gift certificate that could go toward payments.

“You leave school and you want to go buy a home after you save up a few dollars. Well now the first thing to tackle is your student loans,” Founder of ChangEd Daniel Stelmach said. “So it is delaying first time home buying, buying a new car or just getting up on your feet as well.”

Stelmach’s financial application ChangEd helps users pay off their student loans and keep track of their expenses.
