Armed suspect in custody after Black River Falls chase

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WXOW) – Authorities arrested an armed suspect Monday they say led them on a car chase, vehicle crash, and ran off while trying to break into houses and cars in the city.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies and Wisconsin State Troopers were involved in a chase at about 5:30 Monday evening. The car they were after had been reported stolen. They said once the driver crashed, he ran off with a gun.

Deputies said this suspect tried to get into houses and cars before law enforcement confronted the person a second time. That’s when the suspect was taken into custody.

As of after 10 p.m. Monday, deputies said there are still some active scenes they’re working in Black River Falls. They wanted to assure people there’s no threat to the public.

Captain Adam Olson of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said more information will come out  on Tuesday.
