LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) –  Local mental health advocates joined together for the 8th Annual La Crosse County Striding for Mental Wellness Walk.

They gathered together to support and promote mental wellness for all.  The walk through downtown was to help cultivate connections within the community. La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat made a proclamation marking that May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Christin Skolnik, Manager of Integrated Support and Recovery Services Section at La Crosse County, said “Mental health historically has been a scary thing for people, so I think if one is able to be open minded, ask questions, ‘no question is a bad question’, that’s how we begin to do it. Coming to an event like this and just learn, equally important.”
