La Crosse, WI (WXOW)  This month’s Jefferson Award winner is a retired teacher.  But, he’s still teaching.

Mike Brown is the president of an all volunteer, non-profit organization called Kids and Mentors Outdoors or KAMO.

Their mission is providing children an opportunity to learn about and spend time outdoors.  They host events throughout the year organized and financed by the volunteer mentors.

Mike says, they’re always in need of good volunteers who share their passion for helping others and the outdoors.

You can learn more about the local KAMO group by visiting www.kamokids.org/map/coulee-chapter.

And, if you know someone who makes the community an even better place to live through volunteerism, go to our homepage, hover over Community and click on Jefferson Awards.
