Emerson Elementary’s future up for discussion

La Crosse, Wis. – (WXOW) – Emerson Elementary, the oldest of the nine elementary schools in La Crosse is now 80 years old. That’s old enough to start a conversation on just what the not so distant future may hold in store for the public school located on Campbell Road in the shadow of the University of Wisconsin La Crosse.

Points of discussion include dealing with the small size of the hallways and the very limited options for expansion. School officials note that having talks on these matters is just that, talk.

“At this particular point, we’re just exploring and there are no plans,” Superintendent Randy Nelson said. “We just want to make sure that we’re looking forward five, ten, fifteen years.”

Nelson says the school building itself for all of it’s years is considered serviceable.  He adds that Emerson will continue to do what it has been doing these past 80 years, serving families and students.
