West Salem’s police chief takes Onalaska job

ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) – Onalaska’s Police and Fire Commission said Monday that they’ve got new chief of police.

Charles Ashbeck, the current chief of police for West Salem, has accepted the position.

He’s headed the West Salem department for the past 12 years.

Ashbeck replaces Troy Miller, who earlier this year asked to move into the assistant chief’s role. Miller has acted as acting chief while the city searched for a new chief.

In a statement from the city, Ashbeck is hoping to start his new role sometime in late August.
