UWL looking for new campus police chief

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The University of Wisconsin La Crosse is searching for a new campus police chief.

The university started interviewing candidates for the position this week. Three applicants are vying for the position.The first interview took place Monday, Aug. 12 and the next interviews will take place Wednesday, Aug. 14 and Friday, Aug. 16. Interviews will happen until the position is filled.

The position requires the chief to lead the administration of the University Police Department and manage parking and transportation services. The new police chief will also be responsible for operating a budget of $1.85 million.

The University Police Department has 14 sworn police officers that keep the safety and security of the campus a priority by providing services for patrol, investigations, emergency response, crime prevention, community policing, and educational programs.

Chief Scott McCullough retired from the position after the state track meet in early June.
