LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) –  The renovation of a North Side La Crosse landmark is complete. The former Buzz’s Bike Shop on Rose Street was saved from demolition after the City purchased it for just $10. Now it is an entirely new business.

The building was purchased by the city in 2017. Artisan Preservation Company bought the building and spent the last four months renovating the inside to become Greenhouse Holistic Salon and Wellness Co-Op.

It’s a healing approach to hair care that Emilene Heiderscheit takes with her clients. “More than a hair experience. We offer a transformative makeover in all aspects of life.”

As a stylist for the last 17 years, she’s been keeping up with the trends and her passion for holistic care grew. Holistic refers to addressing the whole person, including their physical, mental, and emotional health.

“We say we have healing hands so by connecting with the other persons aura and vibration we sort of even that out.”

Built in 1887, the historic building at 800 Rose Street is the perfect home for her holistic approach. “With the natural light, big tall ceilings, when I saw the space I knew it had to be it.”

And it’s more than just a home for a salon, they also offer weekly yoga classes and have wellness rooms for other treatments.

“It’s a great opportunity for La Cosse to have these types of services offered in one place,” said former city council woman Jackie Marcou who brings her family here. Marcou said she is glad to see the city expand its offerings.

There are apartments above the salon that will soon be restored as well. As far as parking is concerned, you can park on the side streets or on Rose Street. Emilene will rent out the community room to other clients and businesses if they’d like to utilize the space.
