17 displaced in La Crosse apartment building fire

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The Red Cross is working to assist 17 people after an early morning fire destroys an apartment building on the south side of La Crosse.

The La Crosse Fire Department was called to 1314-20 5th Avenue South at 7:20 a.m. for the fire. The building is across the street from Poage Park.

They found high flames coming from the building. Battalion Fire Chief David Snow told WXOW that everyone got out without any injuries.

The building though, suffered major damage.

Inspectors with the La Crosse Fire Department are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
