La Crosse, WI (WXOW)  Three years in the making.  It took that long until an official dedication for the Kumbo, Cameroon Garden.

Ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the Kumbo, Cameroon Garden.

Kumbo is the most recent La Crosse sister city.  That relationship started in 2013; but, in 2016, conversations began about adding a garden to reflect the culture of that city.

Keafon Lainjo is from Kumbo, Cameroon. He is thrilled with and grateful for the garden and the relationship with La Crosse.

Keafon Lainjo is from Kumbo.  He says, “La Crosse keeps giving.  They have given us an opportunity to bring peace into our country, they have given us a garden.  I don’t have to fly 10,000 miles to go to Kumbo with my kids to experience my culture.  All I need to do is bring them here.”

Chuck Hanson is the president of the Riverside International Friendship Gardens.

Riverside International Friendship Gardens president Chuck Hanson says they’d like to add more sculptures to the garden.  Accomplishing that goal requires some help from the community.
