LA CRESCENT, Min. (WXOW) – Rainy conditions make it more dangerous on the roadways. With a day like Monday with poor visibility, it’s crucial for drivers to take precautions.
When it’s raining hard and the water gets pooled up on the roadways, it’s important for drivers to slow down and to avoid hydroplaning but reducing speed isn’t the only thing drivers should do.
Sergeant Troy Christianson with the Minnesota State Patrol said, “You need to make sure in poor weather that you increase your following distance just because it’s going to take more time to react and your vehicle won’t handle as well in these types of road conditions.”
You also want to make sure to turn on your headlights when driving in rainy or foggy weather.
