La Crosse, Wis. – (WXOW) – Area residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of old financial documents and at no cost.

Harter’s Recycling is again holding a free shred day event. Their facility at 2850 Larson Street will accept paper from 8 a.m. until noon on Friday and Saturday. Up to 100 pounds of paper will be taken for free.

“Don’t worry about it being spiral bound or in binders or clips,” said Jeff Holmquist. “It can go through our shredder. We suggest, however, put the papers in a bag or box. It’s windy out here and if it flies away I can’t go running after it.”

There will be a drive-up allowing people to drive up and unload papers.

Harter’s first started holding free shred events back in 2016.
