Eau Claire (WQOW) — An Eau Claire man bagged his trophy hunt over the weekend, and he’s calling it the deer of a lifetime.
Joshua Gawrysiak told News 18 he’s been trying to get the buck for five years, and luck was finally in his favor on Saturday in Chippewa Falls.
After going through hours of trail cam video and pictures, watching the buck’s habits, a doe led him by Gawrysiak’s deer stand, and he was able to shoot the deer he’s been waiting for.
Apparently this buck was a legend in the Chippewa Valley, with many hunters looking to bag him, but Gawrysiak said after hunting this deer for so long, the ending is bitter-sweet.
“In the last couple of days I haven’t been able to sleep,” said Gawrysiak. “I actually woke up a few times and wanted to go sit in the deer stand, and then realized that, like my conquest and all the time put in is finally done, and I will probably never chase a deer like this again in my lifetime.”
As for those hunters still waiting for their trophy, Gawrysiak advised persistence and patience will pay off in the end. His buck will now be mounted and displayed in Scheels for other to appreciate.
