La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) – The Eagles are heading into their final three games of the season after seeing their playoff chances take a major jolt with last week’s loss to Oshkosh.

But there’s still plenty to accomplish.

UW-L will host Platteville this Saturday. Both teams are 4-3 overall.

A win over Platteville last season was a signature win for head coach Mike Schmidt and his program. Now they hope to close out the season strong with three winnable games.

“I think our guys are really hungry. we’ve had our best week of practice by far, our best week in the weight room. I think our guys made a commitment to say hey, we don’t want this outcome anymore. We want to win these close games. We’re making this decision now. Whether that can help us this season, probably not. But down the road all these guys are going to be back. There’s only 11 seniors that are out there,” said head coach Mike Schmidt.

“Just working together in all phases of football. When our defense is playing good our offense has to back them up and the other way around. We’re just going to finish strong and do the best we can to win these three games and give us a chance in the playoffs,” said receiver Cole Spieker.

The Eagles and Platteville kickoff at 1 PM Saturday at Harring Stadium.
