UWL takes down city-rival Viterbo

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men’s basketball team earned a 76-61 win over city-rival Viterbo University on Wednesday night at Mitchell Hall.

UWL shot 49.2% from the field, including 29.2% (seven-of-24) from three-point range, and 64.3% (nine-of-14) at the free throw line. The Eagles shot 51.9% (14-of-27) from the field in the second half. Meinholz led four players in double figures with 16 points while also recording a team-high six rebounds and six assists. Sam Burkart finished with 12 points while Sam Skoyen and Ethan Anderson each scored 11.

Viterbo shot 39.6% from the field, including 37.5% (nine-of-24) from three-point range, and 83.3% (10-of-12) at the line. Jason Tichy led the V-Hawks with 25 points while Cade Anderson finished with 10 points and game-high 8 rebounds.

UWL returns to action Saturday, December 8 hosting Buena Vista University (Iowa) at 3 p.m.
