Eau Claire, Wisc. (WXOW)- On Saturday Melrose-Mindoro defeated Colfax 61-32 to punch their ticket to the state tournament for the 2nd straight year.

The Mustangs were led by Emily Herzberg with 18 points. Erika Simmons also added 10 points. Katie Christopherson had 9 points. Mesa Byom contributed 8 points.

The Mustangs are on a mission to return to the state championship game, this year hoping for a different outcome.

“You know last year was our first time,” Melrose-Mindoro Head Coach Joey Areneson said. ” We made a goal early this season. Our goal wasn’t to get back to state this year, it’s to win state.”

“We’ve been wanting this for the past year,” Katie Christopherson said. ” We are going to get revenge this year.”
