A newly created neighborhood association in La Crosse saw a large turnout for their first meeting Wednesday night.
The Downtown Neighborhood Association met in the main library auditorium to discuss successes and improvements for their area. Until recently, those who lived downtown or in some nearby neighborhoods didn’t have an association to give them a stronger voice when it comes to the direction of the area.
“Because so many more people are living downtown, it’s nice to know what our neighbors are doing and what we can put our efforts toward to make better,” downtown resident Carla Callies said. “I really think organizations like this are how we start grass root things and fix problems.”
Residents are encouraged to join them for their next monthly meeting. That will be held October 23 at 5:45 PM in Christ Episcopal Church.
