La Crosse, WI (WXOW) – On Thursday people from around the area started their morning at the Radisson Center to kick off the community campaign of the Great Rivers United Way.
The event celebrates the work of 11 companies the United Way refers to as Pacesetters, named for their fundraising efforts and community commitment.
Through their own benefits, different companies set the pace for participants in this year’s community campaign. Providing inspiration to help start the next stage of the campaign on the right foot.
“They run them early, they’re done with those and now today we are kicking off everybody else and saying, ‘OK, anybody that wants to run a campaign or wants to give, you don’t have to be in a company that runs a campaign, you can just give a donation.’ Now is the time to start looking at it, and it runs through January 31st,” Mary Kay Wolf, Executive Director for Great Rivers United Way, explains.
Together the Pacesetter companies donated more than $1 million to the United Way, representing an estimated 50,000 lives touched.
“When we’re all said and done we’re hoping we can do enough good work with the campaign the rest of the way to get at least 100,000 people impacted,” Campaign Co-Chair Rob Palmberg says.
