Alex Wasilenko

Weekend Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko brings his Northeast forecasting skills to your hometown La Crosse and Coulee Region.

Born in Northern New York and raised in the beautiful Southern Green Mountains of Vermont, Alex finds himself right at home among the surrounding bluffs. He graduated from Lyndon State College, a top ten school for journalism and a national leader in meteorology programs. He graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science with tracks in TV broadcast, journalism, and private industry.

Before coming to WXOW, Alex would forecast live for the local radio station in Bennington; WBTN 1370 AM. He also put his private industry track to use while remotely forecasting from his couch for a company called LGWeather in Baker Valley, Oregon. Alex is now looking forward to putting his love for broadcast first while connecting with the La Crosse community. You can find his enthusiastic and accurate forecasts on Saturdays on the 6pm Report and 10pm Report and Sundays on the 10pm Report.

Outside of WXOW, Alex enjoys golfing, hiking, exploring, storm chasing, and just relaxing. If you see him out and about in the Coulee Region, feel free to say hello! He’s always up for suggestions on new hikes, bike trails, and delicious places to eat.

Alex can be contacted by email, He’s looking forward to seeing YOUR weather photos and answering any questions you may have!
