Storm brings flooding…
The combination of warming, heavy snow pack and rain has brought more flooding to the region. A Flood Watch will continue in effect for the News 19 viewing area through Friday morning. River flooding from the rain and ice jams will cause rising waters. There are Flood Warnings in effect for many tributaries of the Mississippi River. Localized ponding of water on roads and streets is already occurring.

Cooling trend for the next few days…
There is some good news for the flooding situation. Behind the latest storm northwesterly winds are tapping into cooler air. The readings will drop to the 30s for Friday and the 30s to lower 40s for the weekend. That will help slow the rate of snow melt, and hopefully ease the flooding a bit.

More weather changes for next week…
Warmer air will move in for much of next week. Highs will reach into the middle 40s to even lower 50s later in the week. No major storms look likely, but rivers may rise as the warming intensifies.
