Clouds roamed over the area today, but sunshine took over for later afternoon. That helped afternoon highs into the upper 60s. A breezy westerly wind blew across the region.

Rain returns tonight…
Another strong storm system is approaching from the west for Friday. Showers and more t-storms will move through from time to time as southerly winds tap into more Gulf of Mexico moisture. Some rain amounts could top an inch or more. That will likely affect some of the flooding in the area.

Late Friday t-storm threat…
As a warm front drifts through the region later Friday there will be a slight chance of strong t-storms. There is a potential for larger hail, gusty t-storm winds and heavy rain. Keep it tuned to WXOW for any updates on severe weather.

Dry and seasonal weather will settle in for Saturday and Sunday, and there is a pretty good chance of scattered t-storms for Monday. Enjoy your holiday weekend!

Flood warnings remain in effect…
River Flood Warnings are in effect until further notice for Wabasha, Winona, La Crosse and McGregor along the main stem of the Mississippi River. Minor to moderate flooding is forecast.

The river stage at La Crosse is 12.2 feet. The river will continue to rise. Current forecasts indicate that the water levels will go above the moderate flood stage of 13 Thursday night.
